Fermented microalgae oil, a patented French breakthrough

Microalgae: the origin of marine Omega-3s

A preserved coastal ecosystem is home to an exceptional marine ingredient: microalgae. As the original source of marine Omega-3s, microalgae stand out for their natural ability to produce DHA, an essential fatty acid recognised for its nutritional value and remarkable purity.

    History

Born from a unique marine ecosystem

The microalgae Schizochytrium sp. comes from the mangroves of Mayotte, in the heart of the Indian Ocean. This unique coastal environment, rich in plant organic matter, provides ideal conditions for its natural development and high DHA concentration.

Growing on decomposing mangrove leaves, it occupies the first level of the marine food chain and is the original source of Omega-3s.

After selection of the strain collected in Mayotte, the microalgae is fermented in Gironde in a closed environment using patented technology, with no continuous harvesting from the natural environment.

This approach helps preserve ecosystems while ensuring consistent quality, full traceability and a controlled environmental footprint.

    Origin

In the heart of the mangroves

Schizochytrium sp. grows in mangroves, on mangrove leaves that have fallen into the water, where it feeds on decomposing plant organic matter.

This unique, preserved environment promotes a naturally high production of DHA, making this microalgae one of the original sources of marine Omega-3s.

    Nutrition

    An exceptional DHA concentration

Through ongoing research, the microalgae Schizochytrium sp. has emerged as an exceptional source of DHA, an essential Omega-3 involved in inflammatory balance, cognitive function and joint mobility.

Produced in a controlled environment using patented technology and with no exposure to marine contaminants, it offers remarkable purity while ensuring consistent quality and excellent bioavailability.

This exceptional marine resource is one of the key ingredients in PERNIXOL®, a natural formula for joint comfort in dogs.

    01

    Targeted anti-inflammatory action

    Inflammation regulation

DHA acts at the core of biological pathways involved in inflammation and joint pain.

    • Modulation of NF-κB, JNK and p38 MAPK pathways involved in the inflammatory response
    • Reduction in production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β)
    • Activation of pro-resolving mediators (resolvins, protectins, maresins) promoting the natural resolution of inflammation
    • Contribution to a rapid return to tissue balance without compromising the body's defences

    Bone and joint protection

    Joint protection

Beyond inflammation, DHA acts on mechanisms involved in the breakdown of joint structures.

    • Inhibition of osteoclast activity through regulation of the RANK/RANKL system
    • Reduced expression of bone resorption markers (TRAP, CTSK, NFATc1)
    • Reduced activity of MMP-13, the enzyme responsible for cartilage degradation
    • Preservation of subchondral bone and cartilage structure

    03

    Cellular and cognitive support

    Overall vitality

DHA supports healthy cellular function and helps maintain the body's essential functions.

    • Activation of cellular autophagy (Beclin-1, LC3), promoting cell regeneration
    • Improved survival and longevity of chondrocytes (cartilage cells)
    • Metabolic regulation via PPARγ and adiponectin, linked to inflammation
    • Structural role in neuronal membranes, supporting cognition and nerve transmission
